Asa Rocks

From the first day i heard Asa's song,i fell in love with her voice. It was fresh, unique and different, and her songs were just divine. I always found comfort in Macy Gray songs, especially "I try", so it was quite a relief to have Asa come from Nigeria and do what she knows how to do best. Every season she wow her audience with good songs and lyrics. To me, she is like Macy Gray and Corinne Bailey Rae joined together and much more greater,i usually tell friends that Asa might just be the one to sing to me on my wedding day.....lol. I am highly anticipating her new album Beautiful Imperfections, although i have already heard and watch the video of one of the singles,"Be my man" and i am already in love with it.
She just completed her video for one of the songs in the albums,"why cant we"  and i can't wait to see it.

One of my favourite movies is Confession of a shopaholic, i can watch that movie a million times and never get tired. I can totally relate to the movie and that's the most interesting part,Rebbecca Bloomwood played by Isla Fisher was just the best girl for the movie and i don't think anyone would have done it better,i get lost in the movie all the time. It takes me back to the first time i had a bank account,i was 18 and boy was i happy. finally....(sighs),i had money of my own. I was reckless with money, i immediately applied for an ATM card, and it went everywhere with me. I bought things i didn't need, spent my money on sandals(was really crazy about sandals then),clothes, hair, fast food. I didn't have so much so i always ran out of money. Then one fateful day it hit me, that i had never invested this money in something worthwhile, i then decided to re-evaluate my spending. The first sum of money i had after the evaluation i got a home theater and a fabulous pair of shoes, well it was a fresh start, at least i bought home theater instead of a fab clothes to go with the shoes, and that was the beginning of where i am today. Before i buy anything i ask myself if it is important and if i need it right now in my life, and i also try to invest in things that are worthwhile, and even though i still spoil myself,i do it moderately and try so much to create a balance.

I remember in January 2010, i got Glamour magazine and they listed 10 things to do in the new year, one of them was getting a book and writing the story of your life, i lingered on the page a little longer, Glamour further explained that this book didn't have to have a format, and it can just be filled with random stories and event that has occured in your life, even present event and this book should be kept well and probably your children and grandchildren may get to read it. I couldn't help but love the idea and decided to try it out, i stole a jotter from a friends house(it was really beautiful and he wasn't such a good friend,so i didn't feel so guilty) and started, i filled this book with wonderful stories, sad ones and happy ones and o boy did i have so much fun. Well today i stumbled upon this book, and while reading it i had this smile on my face, i laughed, frowned, smirked, smiled and i decided to share some of the stories with my wonderful audience. Thanks to Glamour for such a wonderful idea.

Oluchi paving the way for the young models

Its good to see Oluchi our Nigerian supermodel still running things. This is a sign of encouragement for our young models to know that they can still pursue their dreams even with the tough and unstable environment we find ourselves in.
Here is Oluchi in the January 2011 catalog for US departmental store,Nordstrom.

Funny thing

Just last year December i was trotting in my heels everyday, trying to rehearse for a fashion show i was to model for, and now just a couple of weeks after I'm here in a cyber cafe of a hotel, attending to clients, learning how to use a photocopying machine, how to format a system amongst many other things. Each day brings new experiences and challenges. Some days you make new friends, someday you don't, sometimes those friends turn out to be your best friends and sometimes your worst enemies. what matters the most is how we handle our everyday lives, because the total of everyday becomes our lives. the attitude we put in each day matters, and sometimes we try our best to ave a happy and positive attitude but we are to pissed to even stop frowning. life can be beautiful, life can be sad, but one thing is for sure and that is we have to live this life. so try not to let people and silly situations spoil your day. try not to be down all the time, you are allowed to fall down sometimes but you are not allowed to stay down. look for the things that make you happy and do them. for me its a good movie, the best of music, karaoke,a good meal, spending quality time with my closest friends and my family, writing, reading a good book and magazines and the list goes on and on. i make sure i indulge in some of these things everyday, because they make me happy and each day try to go to bed with a smile on your face and songs of thanksgiving to God for that day, even though it wasn't the best of days, at least its a day in your life u get to see.

Rachael Zoe's design

One of the things a designer never want to hear is  "Did he\she steal a design for her fashion line". Well too bad for Rachael Zoe that question is been asked as an exact frock  in Zoe's collection was noticed in teen vogue Octobers  issue 2007. Well its been said that the frock is vintage and Zoe bought it from a boutique called what goes around comes around in new york city and wore it to the Marc Jacob's runway show after party. i guess Zoe borrowed the design since her collection is 70's inspired. I personally don't know what to make of this.........my mind is still on the matter though.
